Wayne Thurman is a self taught artist who is a member of Gathering Artist in Danville. His business is called “Hedge Row”, because when he first started doing botanical collages most of the materials came from his yard and fence rows. His work is displayed at Constitution Square Festival in Danville, at the Danville Gallery Hops, Forkland Heritage Festival, and The Sheltowee Art Fair.
Wayne Works out of a small studio setting at his home in Danville making paper collages of horses and other subjects. He prefers to use paper that consists of two or more different colored layers so they can be scraped to reveal a color within. Backgrounds and partial shading are done with paper, acrylics, or pastels. To bring out highlights he may use sandpaper, scrapers, or even a Dremel sanding tool.

Wayne also works with pressed botanicals to make intricate botanical collages. He grows and dries the materials for these delicate collages.

Burned and painted gourds are also the handiwork of this versatile artist. Once again a favorite subject for the gourds are horses.
