Janie Hail

Janie Hail has drawn and painted nearly all her life, but it was not until she completed a 30 year career as an English teacher on both the secondary and college levels that she had time to devote to her art. In recent years she has focused on developing her talents and skills in watercolor, her favorite medium.It’s always the play of light that first draws Janie to a scene. “It’s such a challenge to catch the glow,” she says. “I also enjoy painting realistic detail, and, of course, it is the suggested shapes that make watercolor so much fun to do.”
Both independently and as a member of the Escape Artists, a group of nine painters, Janie has enjoyed instruction in watercolor technique in workshops across the nation as well as internationally.
Janie was chosen as the 2002 Master Musician Festival “Artist of the Year” with her painting “Roots.”
