Artisan Tammy Dean is a self-taught doll maker from a rural community in Lincoln County, Kentucky. Her Appalachian rag dolls reflect a simple and traditional country style. She has discovered through her doll making that dolls, though inanimate, can give comfort, love and companionship to those of all ages.
Tammy markets her dolls throughout Kentucky. She is an annual participant in the Berea Craft Festival at Indian Fort Theater, Berea, KY and the Sheltowee Art Fair at The Center for Rural Development, Somerset, KY as well as other quality shows throughout the region. Her Appalachian rag dolls and ornaments are juried by the Sheltowee Artisans of Somerset,KY, the Kentucky Appalachian Artisans of Hindman, KY,and the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, Berea, KY. Tammy Dean Crafts was the first to participate from Lincoln County in the Kentucky Artisan Heritage Trails program (www.kaht.com) which was funded through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission and Eastern Kentucky University.
Tammy's Country Raggedies were featured at the Kentucky Appalachian Artisan Center with the exhitib Art from the Mountains: A Pastoral View of our Region. Tammy Dean was a proud participant in The Market Place at the 2002 Dollywood Harvest Celebration.

Her Prayer Angel doll was featured in the Appalachian Home Catalog with a portion of the proceeds going towards the Christian Appalachian Project in their mission to providing assistance to the under priviliaged of Appalachia. Tammy's Fluffy Bunny doll was also a featured item in the Appalachian Home Catalog.
In 2014 Tammy Dean Crafts handmade Red Bird Ornaments caught the attention of Red Bird Mission Crafts and is now retailed through Red Bird Mission Craft Stores and Red Bird Mission Craft Shows throughout the United States along with a variety of Tammy Dean Crafts handmade dolls and ornaments. This mission is located in the heart of Appalachia but it's mission is known throughout the world in assisting those in need.
